Visited the Triple Nickel for the first time a while ago for my mother-in-laws birthday. Our party of 10 was seated upstairs which was nicer and a little quieter than the busier downstairs area.
Our server was great, prompt and very helpful. We brought in a cake which can be tedious and sometimes servers aren't so willing to help, but that wasn't the case here.
I didn't particularly care so so much for my entree, but it was delivered on time and it hit the spot so it achieved its purpose. I will say however the frog legs were really great and so was the clam chowder.
Thank you for the great service, we had a great time and we would definitely be back. -

Always enjoying coming here after work. The service is pretty fast and the staff is always friendly. The inside decor is pretty cool. Will have to try dinner one day.

Gave this place a second chance after not enjoying my meal the first time and then seeing them on WXYZ for health code violations... seriously disappointed. Calamari was super basic and less than flavorful. Brussel sprouts same thing- nothing to brag about or even get again. For my meal I ordered the spinach salad which was a joke. Got a large and there was barley any food on my plate. Service was also pretty bad for a Monday.. waitress gave us our check without us even asking for it which to me is rude. !!

Went to pancakes house at 1130 because people cannot wake up and the line was crazy, looked for another place close and ran across this for Sunday brunch. I had a skillet and my girl had an omelette and side of pancakes. The skillet came out nice, the right amount of food where I was full but I was not stuffed and had no problem eating everything. Good service and a good brunch and NO WAITING IN LINE! If I am in the area for brunch again this will be a stop for me.

My mother and I were spending the afternoon shopping in downtown Birmingham and decided to try Triple Nickel for a late lunch/early dinner. It's in the 555 building, hence the name Triple Nickel.
Happy Hour is from 3-6pm Monday thru Friday. We arrived at 2pm so it was after the lunch rush and before happy hour. Their drink menu is impressive as is their wine list. I settled on a Dir-Tito's which is their version of a dirty martini with Tito's vodka, olive juice, a jalapeño syrup, and queen olives. I loved it! My mom settled on a glass of house Cabernet.
We decided to split the crab and scallop stuffed mushrooms. It came with 5 of them but they were on the small side. There were big chunks of crab meat and scallops inside though and topped with cheese. Everything was very fresh. My only advice would be it needed a little more flavor, maybe a cream sauce or something. I got the wedge salad for my entree and enjoyed it, however, it was a little on the small side for an entree salad and I was still a little hungry after the salad. My mom got the pickerel fish tacos and said it was great. It had Asian slaw and a spicy sauce drizzled over it. The order comes with 2 fish tacos but nothing else accompanying it. Seems like rice or a starch should have come with it.
Overall Triple Nickel offers delicious food, crafted cocktails, and a fun atmosphere. Everything tasted fresh and the choices were vast. With a few tweaks this place could really be a solid choice for downtown Birmingham.
